Design Process
Initial consultations and sketch begin the process and are available by appointment.
Consultations typically take 2 hours and are available to meet your schedule - weeknight late afternoon/ evenings and weekends are perfect.
Consultation fees vary based on your needs.
Based on initial consultation,additional services are available from:
- plant selection and purchase (from the growers themselves - this saves you money and gives you healthier plants!)
- to giving you a DIY plan with personal oversight
- to creating the perfect containers (that means pots) and focal points (that means art - with stone, found objects, water features, fire accents, or whatever has meaning for you)
- to simply accompanying you to the nursery for assistance
- to oversight and supervision of the garden installation process with a licensed landscape contractor
- to creating a formal landscaping plan and architectural drawing

A genealogical talent for design and lifelong experience as THE outdoor decorator's daughter, GDiRt designer Rachel would like to offer her outdoor design skills to a select few.
The Portland public who want a designer who will take the time to help them figure out what they really want and need in a garden and what fits their individuality, personality,and style....
Rachel has a Master's in Psychology and utilizes insight in working with all clients. In addition to her academic background focusing on children's mental health and multicultural education and therapy she has utilized her free time to travel and study many facets of garden design including Japanese, Traditional English, Modern, Organic, and Sustainable.
With time for only 5-8 garden design clients per season, Rachel chooses to work with clients who have a creative interest in their spaces and who want to make something truly special and unique. She especially loves helping people learn about the rewards gardening can offer one personally and unlike many designers is happy to work with DIY'ers within a budget that fits today's needs. She provides hands on oversight to every detail of making your garden, patio, or container the space of your dreams.
